Equity and Cultural Competence start with building awareness. Engaging in the work of Cultural Competence, as an educator, is a lifelong commitment. As educators work with diverse groups of students and colleagues along the way, it is critical that we do the work to identify how our experiences have impacted our journey. An educator committed to teaching, as an act of social justice, is one that is consistently working to cultivate equitable spaces that raise the voices and perspectives of students and colleagues that are racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse.
Equity isn’t a buzzword.
